Scholarships in the Netherlands for Master Programs
!عارفين هولندا؟ عارفينها
Unfortunately, we will not be talking about "بنات هولندا" in this post, but we can discuss this important issue later. This post talks about "جامعات هولندا", where "بنات هولندا" study. Netherlands, one of the world's most developed countries, has 11 universities which are among the 200 elite universities of the world. It is also the first non-English-speaking country in the world to offer programs in English for international students which are very internationally oriented.
The education system in Holland is known for its high quality in education and research and its international study environment. In addition, with more than 2,100 international study programs and courses it has the largest offer of continental Europe. Holland has two main types of higher education institutions: research universities and universities of applied sciences.
The research universities in Holland educate students in academic study and research. Universities of applied sciences offer professional programs in the applied arts and sciences that prepare students for specific careers. A third and smaller branch of higher education is provided by institutes for international education, which offer advanced training and courses in a wide range of fields. Most of these institutes are part of a research university.
Luckily, there is a wide variety of scholarships offered by specific universities to excellent students who finished their bachelors degree from anywhere in the world and wish to pursue a masters degree in the Netherlands. These universities are:
Leiden University:
Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS)
University of Twente:
University of Twente Scholarships (UTS)
TU Delft:
TU Delft Excellence and Faculty Scholarships
Utrecht University:
Utrecht Excellence Scholarships for International Students
Tilburg University:
Tilburg University Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students
Most of these scholarships offer full covering of tuition fees and living expenses during the years of study. Their criteria are very simple, as they only need a proof that the student who is applying is ranked in the top 10% of his class or that his/her GPA is 80% or higher. Therefore, no sports achievements or proofs of extra-curricular activities are needed (although this might be beneficial when applying).
I advise everyone who is interested to read well about each scholarship, and how and when to apply to them. Usually, you apply to the scholarship at the same time you are applying to the masters program by filling in a scholarship application form and providing two recommendation letters and sometimes a masters thesis proposal (your idea for a masters thesis you wish to work on). However, those who are applying for a scholarship apply to it way earlier than a person who is applying for the masters program as a self-funded student.
Best wishes!

My Arabic friends will understand the relevancy of this photo.
